Today there were a myriad of reasons to be happy:
1. Perfect summer day. Exactly the right temperature.
2. Spending time with family.
3. Laughing at a funny awards show.
4. Crispy, crunchy cucumbers. Yum.

My mom got me an autograph from a rugby player I’ve fangirled for almost ever. I grew watching him. Cheering for him. It was an unexpected surprise and a welcome one. My mother rocks.

Texts with a friend I barely talk to. It was a kind reminder that life may have pulled us in opposite directions but the feelings remain.

There were two things that brought a smile to my face today and coincidentally enough, both were directly related to mailboxes:
1. I got an unexpected package from a publisher. It was a book I had never heard of filled with the dreams of someone who lives in the same city I do.
2. A friend received the package I sent her and her happiness made my day so much brighter.
The crisp taste of watermelon, the explosion of sweetness in my mouth. Like ambrosia. Cool, cold and a miracle in and of itself. It made me happy.
